Community Outreach & Wellbeing

Over the years we offered free artist or curator-led guided tours tailored to specific community group needs and interests. At Fresh Air Sculpture we took great care to understand and respond to the individual requirements of the visiting groups. Our guided tours were inclusive, accessible, sensitive, inspirational and fun. We supported organisations who work to improve physical, emotional and mental wellbeing within the community.
We collaborated with groups who work with adults and young people suffering from anxiety, depression, isolation within the community, mental health issues, addiction and other long-term illnesses. We supported the work of fantastic organisations such as Paradise House, the Nelson Trust, Root and Branch, the Edna Dawes Lunch Club, Bridewell Organic Gardens, Working 4 Wellbeing and the Churn Community Hub.

‘Our gardeners had a truly wonderful experience. Being able to visit before the garden opened to the public made such a difference, especially for those who struggle with anxiety or busy environments.

Your generosity in offering us free entry each year is deeply appreciated. The space you set up for us with tables, chairs, tea, coffee, and brownies was so thoughtful and created a welcoming base for everyone. It helped people feel settled and cared for right from the start.’ ~ Bridewell Gardens

‘As a creative organisation, we took away valuable inspiration for our own studios. Residents and staff were interested in the wide range of materials used by artists and have already begun discussing how some of these ideas and approaches could be explored in our own creative practice at Paradise.

The opportunity to visit before the gardens opened to the public was particularly appreciated. Having the peaceful space to explore without other visitors around made a real difference. Residents appeared much more settled and relaxed, allowing them to engage fully with both the artwork and the beautiful surroundings.’ ~ Paradise House

‘The group were really engaged throughout and asked some really insightful questions. Stephanie made the whole experience feel very accessible. She has a way of providing interesting facts about the pieces and the artists but also giving you space to connect on an emotional level.

I’m sad it’s the last one. Thank you for all you have done over the years. It has been one of the highlights for me to bring groups of our clients to Fresh Air and to see them immersed in a stunning garden with such interesting sculptures.’ ~ The Nelson Trust
