Education was at the core of the Fresh Air Sculpture Show.

In 2026, our education programme welcomed around 600 children and young people across 30 school visits, providing opportunities for pupils to experience contemporary sculpture and art within the unique setting of the Cotswold landscape.

We invited primary, secondary and special schools, with a particular focus on welcoming schools and groups from areas where access to enriching arts experiences can be more limited.

Students experienced the exhibition through a combination of guided sculpture tours, exploratory trails, self-led visits and bespoke creative workshops, led by our team of inspiring artists and tutors.

Guided visits encouraged children to explore the sculptures, discover the ideas and processes behind the artworks and learn more about the artists who created them. Exploratory trails provided opportunities for pupils to engage with the sculptures at their own pace, often focusing on a particular theme.

Our creative workshops provided a hands-on opportunity for students to respond to the exhibition and develop their own ideas through making. Sessions were adapted to suit the age, abilities and individual needs of each group, ensuring that every child could participate and enjoy a meaningful experience.

A key aim of the programme was to ensure that all children and young people could become fully immersed in art within the natural environment, regardless of age, ability or educational background.
