Kingsdown 2021 Outreach

Due to lockdown we were acutely aware of many secondary schools struggling to deliver the curriculum to students, in particular GCSE Students. Children returned in 2021 for a brief period and Fresh Air Education were able to send in an artist, Amanda Griffiths to work with GCSE Students for a Mixed Media workshop. Kingsdown School at the time was building from a poor OFSTED report and has many students from disadvantaged backgrounds with a high proportion of young carers. As we quickly realised how behind the children were with their coursework, Amanda created a bespoke day to Kingsdown school to allow the students to have an enriched experience, and a day off timetable. The response from teachers and students alike was extremely positive and emphasised the importance to us of supporting Arts in education.
