ABOUT FRESH AIR SCULPTURE

Set up by art collectors, Lucy and David Abel Smith, the first Fresh Air Sculpture was held in the Quenington Old Rectory gardens in 1992. Acclaim for the show’s originality and innovative mixture of traditional, modern and cutting-edge outdoor sculpture has grown year by year and Fresh Air Sculpture is now an established and much anticipated fixture in the art events calendar. Fresh Air Sculpture became a charitable trust, under Quenington Sculpture Trust, in 1997.

We are thrilled to be able to open The Old Rectory We are thrilled to be able to open The Old Rectory Gardens for the National Garden Scheme on 11 July, 2021. There will be volunteers selling tea and cake in aid of local charity, Friends of Fairford and Lechlade Communities. This particular charity normally runs a door-to-door fundraiser every year and hasn’t been able to for the 2nd year running due to Covid, so we are really keen to help them! Despite Fresh Air Sculpture not going ahead this y Despite Fresh Air Sculpture not going ahead this year, we are determined that our education programme continues. Under the leadership of our Education Programme Manager, Emily Bird, we are offering creativity sessions to primary and secondary school children by visiting them in their schools, and our art education programme for vulnerable adults continues with visits to our gardens at The Old Rectory. We were thrilled to welcome a group from The Nelson Trust for an afternoon of enjoying the gardens and leaning about our permanent collection of artworks. The Nelson Trust is a charity that brings belief, hope and long-term recovery to people whose lives have been torn apart by addiction and the multiple and complex needs that come with it.
