Sarah Blood neon sculpture

Blood, Sarah

A searing red circular neon tube appears to melt into the hand-built stoneware cube, creating a visual anomaly that questions our perception of strength and permanence. Is the fragile neon capable of distorting and eventually destroying the strong stoneware base? Referencing Æsop’s fable of the North Wind and the Sun, the work speaks to the power and danger of beauty and persuasion over strength and force.
