ABOUT FRESH AIR SCULPTURE

Set up by art collectors, Lucy and David Abel Smith, the first Fresh Air Sculpture was held in the Quenington Old Rectory gardens in 1992. Acclaim for the show’s originality and innovative mixture of traditional, modern and cutting-edge outdoor sculpture has grown year by year and Fresh Air Sculpture is now an established and much anticipated fixture in the art events calendar. Fresh Air Sculpture became a charitable trust, under Quenington Sculpture Trust, in 1997.

The students had managed to complete their course and put on the show despite the pandemic disrupting much of the end of their second year and the start of their third year at college. There will be volunteers selling tea and cake in aid of local charity, Friends of Fairford and Lechlade Communities. We had a wonderful visit to Hauser & Wirth in Brut We had a wonderful visit to Hauser & Wirth in Bruton, Somerset to visit the Eduardo Chillida exhibition. One of the foremost Spanish sculptors of the twentieth century, Eduardo Chillida is widely celebrated for his monumental public sculptures and enduring fascination with interconnected shape, space and organic form. The exhibition presents a significant body of sculptural works and drawings including large and medium-sized sculptures of granite, chamotte clay and iron shown here. It's a brilliant show in gorgeous settings including the Piet Oudolf designed gardens.
