ABOUT FRESH AIR SCULPTURE

Set up by art collectors, Lucy and David Abel Smith, the first Fresh Air Sculpture was held in the Quenington Old Rectory gardens in 1992. Acclaim for the show’s originality and innovative mixture of traditional, modern and cutting-edge outdoor sculpture has grown year by year and Fresh Air Sculpture is now an established and much anticipated fixture in the art events calendar. Fresh Air Sculpture became a charitable trust, under Quenington Sculpture Trust, in 1997.

Fresh Air Sculpture would like to pay tribute to r Fresh Air Sculpture would like to pay tribute to renowned stone carver/artist and sculptor Rory Young who sadly passed away on 23rd of February.

Rory was a man of passions - for his friends, his surroundings, new places and for stone in which he was steeped. He exhibited 3 lettering pieces with us last year, all of which sold.

Rory was an absolute delight to work with, his attention to detail was second to none and his intelligence, spirit and knowledge were indomitable.

He was a genius, a master of his craft, a great intellect and just a lovely man who will be greatly missed by all at Fresh Air Sculpture.

16 June - 7 July 2024

We are inviting applications from artists for our 2024 sculpture exhibition. You’ll find all the details if you click the link in our bio.

Fresh Air Sculpture is an outdoor selling exhibition that has been operating for the last 30 years showing renowned national and international artists alongside emerging new talent.

We are looking for ‘fresh’ new work with artistic intent in addition to technical proficiency, that is original, handmade or partly handmade, has been recently created and has not been previously exhibited within a 30-mile radius.

All work should be of a suitable scale for a large outdoor garden setting and be robust enough to withstand the vagaries of the British weather.

Fresh Air Sculpture is open to all new ideas and will consider site-specific or ephemeral proposals where the artist has raised their own funding. This is a challenging remit but challenges can often push artwork in new and unexpected directions.

We welcome submissions from international sculptors but it will be the artist’s responsibility to arrange and cover shipping costs and any customs, taxes and duties due.

The deadline for submissions is 1st December 2023.

Delighted to have been awarded the Peoples Prize by Ty Pawb in Wrexham Wales for their recent exhibition, Growing Together, which ended after three months on the 7th January. The work Migrant Crossings uses contextual objects to represent the escalating crisis of refugees crossing the English Channel in small boats. In my previous career I was exposed to the suffering of refugees and therefore to win this award means everything to me. It was a privilege to take part in this fantastic exhibition with so many outstanding artists. Many thanks to all the hard-working team at Ty Pawb to make the exhibition happen.
Soon after this photo of me at the private view with my work Migrant Crossings, I had an accident falling 120 feet down a mountain ravine in Snowdonia, Wales. So this award has especially meant a lot . Thank you so much Ty Pawb .
I am recovering and I am very excited about the prospect of getting back into the studio to make some smaller works soon. #artprize #artaward #finearts#instaartist#modernartist #artistsoninstagramfollowme#abstractionart #artists #art #emergingartists #contemporaryartist #contemporaryartist #sculpturestudio #sculpture #sculptureart #thankyouNHS
