ABOUT FRESH AIR SCULPTURE

Set up by art collectors, Lucy and David Abel Smith, the first Fresh Air Sculpture was held in the Quenington Old Rectory gardens in 1992. Acclaim for the show’s originality and innovative mixture of traditional, modern and cutting-edge outdoor sculpture has grown year by year and Fresh Air Sculpture is now an established and much anticipated fixture in the art events calendar. Fresh Air Sculpture became a charitable trust, under Quenington Sculpture Trust, in 1997.

Posted @withregram • @precupac "A penny and a dream" is a series of small scale sculptures consisting of hand made houses and real bank notes or coins. The houses are made from materials varying from steel to marble. Each one is unique but all of them abstract and blank, becoming a representation for a universal home. The currency adds value to the work both conceptually and literally. Whilst the quirky and humorist value of the work is inviting, the piece is posing the following questions: What is the value and worth of this art piece? Will the spending of the notes devalue the work? We have opened up The Old Rectory Cottage for AirB We have opened up The Old Rectory Cottage for AirBnB! Sitting on the banks of the River Coln and opposite the church in the village of Quenington, in the heart of the Cotswolds, we are 7 miles from the market town of Cirencester and forty minutes drive from Cheltenham. Originally staff quarters for the main house, The Cottage is self-contained with its own entrance. It has 2 upstairs bedrooms and a bathroom, and downstairs is the kitchen, sitting room and laundry closet. The Cottage has been decorated with interesting artworks and objects as well as plenty of books. The Cottage has its own private garden, but our large 5-acre garden may be accessed by prior arrangement, as can the heated swimming pool, for which an additional charge will be payable. A proportion of the takings will be donated to the Quenington Sculpture Trust Come and stay!
