Workshops

In 2022 we invited 15 schools including Primary, Secondary and Special Schools to our education programme. The schools were carefully selected against criteria to prioritise disadvantaged pupils and schools that have high pupil premium, as well as those with poor resourcing in the Arts. The sessions started at 10am allowing the schools access to the show with interactive activities whilst exploring and learning about the sculptures.

This year we commissioned Barbara Long, an exhibiting artist, passionate about the plight of refugees and an experienced Art therapist, to head up the Education programme. The materials were all recyclable and schools were invited to create shelters for their creatures. The project demanded much more than pure artistic ability – children and students had to apply critical thinking, problem solving and were encouraged in a nurturing environment to value their artistic contributions.

The lesson plans for schools are found here for review.
